Biography
Mark Henderson is President of GridSmart City and GridSmart City Cooperative, a leading industry consortium of Ontario LDCs, Commercial and Academic Partners along with other key stakeholders. The GridSmart City Cooperative comprises fourteen Ontario’s LDCs, managing $2.7 billion in assets while serving close to 740,000 customers across 25 communities.
Prior to taking on the leadership of GridSmart City Cooperative, Mark most recently served Senior Vice President, Energy Solutions & Services for Alectra. He also served as EVP, Asset Management and COO of PowerStream. He began his career in the utility industry first as VP Asset Management & COO of Barrie Hydro and later as, President and CEO of Barrie Hydro, where he led the successful merger of that organization with PowerStream.
Before joining the electricity industry, he spent more than a dozen years in the business strategy and management consulting business. He is an internationally renowned speaker who has made presentations across Canada and the US, as well in the UK, Japan, Korea, and China.
